Happy Mother’s Day!
Happy Mother’s Day from Galileo Preparatory Academy in Franklin, TN.
In honor of Mother’s Day, we sat down with a few of our learners to ask them about their moms. Their answers were creative, sweet, and often hilarious. It’s clear all of our learners admire their moms and were excited to talk about them!
We first asked our learners their mom’s age. Many learners were spot on with their guesses, with answers like “40?” and “she’s 52!” A seventh grade learner even said, “23!” with extreme confidence, which we are sure made his mom very happy.
Our learners were a little puzzled about what their mom might be up to while they’re at GPA. Some said their moms were at work, but they weren’t sure exactly what they do for their jobs. One seventh grade learner said his mom “cleans up everything. She also has to take care of the crazy dog and do her work.” A first grade learner said, “I don’t know. You’ll have to ask her yourself!”
GPA moms are obviously very caring, as every learner we interviewed said something like “she cares for me” when we asked how their mom shows love. An eleventh grade learner said, “she’s been with me my whole life and taken care of me my whole life. That’s why I appreciate and love her.” A fourth grade learner said, “She cares for me and she always makes me happy. I just really love her.”
Our learners also noted their moms are overall very happy people, saying, “She doesn’t really get angry. She has a positive attitude all the time. She’s always happy.” A second grade learner noticed that her mom is happy when she completes a chore, saying, “It makes her happy when I clean the guinea pigs.” Others said their moms were happiest when they spent time as a family or played with their dog.
Finally, we asked our learners to give their moms a Mother’s Day message. We had a lot of “I love you!” responses, as well as several “Happy Mother’s Day!” messages. An eleventh grade learner said, “Thank you for being with me my whole life. Here’s to many more years!”
At GPA, we believe family time is of utmost importance for our learners. Our learners notice their moms are happiest when they spend time together, and we believe our learners are happier, too. We use time at school well so families can spend their evenings and weekends making memories instead of working on homework.
We are grateful to all of our GPA moms and the joy they bring to our school. Their dedication to their learners and the support they provide helps our community thrive! We believe a seventh grade learner summed it up best: “Thank you for doing everything for me and being so supportive of everything I’ve done!”
